Summary

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for using precision bending techniques based on specifications and precise measurements and calculations. This position requires someone with experience operating a press brake and various other metal fabrication equipment for cutting, punching, etc. A successful candidate must have solid math and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, expertise with machine operation and tooling, and familiarity with various metals and their characteristics. CNC programming is an essential skill for this role.

Success Criteria & Measurement

• Performs all work in a timely manner
• Safely uses all equipment, such as press brake, saws, overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.
• Works as part of the team helping in other areas as needed, such as Waterjet
• Consistently accurate when bending parts to specifications from blueprints
• Work with limited supervision and in a clean and organized manner

Responsibilities

• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Operates press brake bending material to specifications
• Moves finished material into appropriate storage areas
• Loads and unloads material into appropriate stacks prior to and after completion
• Reports defects or problems to Production Manager/Shop Foreman
• Performs inspection and maintains quality standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Must be able to complete the essential functions of this position: stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, kneel, and bend
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time on a regular basis
• Operating press brake, saws, performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks
• The position is subject to environmental conditions; protecting from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes

Qualifications

• High School degree preferred; solid math and problem-solving skills required
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience operating a press brake
• Strong organizational skills required; deadline and detail-oriented
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed
