Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Maintenance Supervisor is primarily responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating maintenance and repairs of production machinery and mechanical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: to include the following. Other duties as assigned.
- Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance.
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
- Repairs electrical equipment.
- Performs skilled maintenance activities including welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing.
- Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves and motors.
- Adjusts, repairs, and replaces electrical and electronic pneumatic relays.
- Performs preventative maintenance.
- Operates hand saw, drill press, and electric drill.
- Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed.
- Develops, implements, and reviews regular maintenance work orders.
- Coordinates, arranges, and supervises or provides for the completion of corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with operating procedures, practices and financial considerations.
- Supervises maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment and machinery.
- Responsible for loss or damage of maintenance tools and materials.
- Follows safety procedures and regulations.
- Handles employee issues such as performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
- Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; attending leadership development courses as offered and leading company culture initiatives.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
