Education That Pays!
In 1969, York County School of Technology’s Adult Education Department embarked on a mission to be York County’s premier post-secondary technical school. Fifty years later, our Adult & Continuing Education Center plays a vital role in our community, delivering innovative programs to students, residents, and area businesses.
The Adult & Continuing Education Center is an accredited, open access institution of higher learning committed to providing our students, community, and military population with the educational tools to achieve personal goals and professional growth. To accomplish this, the School offers courses, programs, and pathways designed to enhance student success and career/workforce opportunities, enabling all in the community to thrive in a changing global society.
York County School of Technology, located at 2179 S. Queen Street (just off Interstate 83 at exit 16A in South-Central Pennsylvania and situated about 30 miles south of Harrisburg) in York County, offers educational opportunities where every student is guided and encouraged to reach his or her full potential.
YCST serves as both a technical high school and a postsecondary technical school and has been providing education, training, and services to adult students in the South Central Pennsylvania region since 1969. Our comprehensive technical programs predominantly focus on technical training in high demand occupations leading to certifications and nationally recognized credentials.
York County School of Technology was the first in the state to earn full public postsecondary vocational accreditation from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in May 2005. Since this milestone, YCST has grown and evolved into the Adult & Continuing Education Center, with an annual enrollment of over 1000 students in a variety of high-skill, high-wage technical programs. This exponential growth is due to our unique role in fulfilling the workforce needs of our community partners; our programs are aligned with the skills and knowledge today’s jobs demand. Our hands-on approach makes learning exciting and prepares students for their future careers. Students apply what they learn in lab-based classes, clinics, externships and workplaces. This practical focus is reinforced by faculty who come to the Adult & Continuing Education Center with significant business, industrial, and clinical experience.
We change lives, empower students to succeed, and enhance the civic vitality of our community through high quality education, workforce training, excellent services, and innovative partnerships.
