The Adult & Continuing Education Center at York County School of Technology (YCST) has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, that will fund the school’s Veteran Driver Training Project. The initiative will help to address the unemployment and underemployment of local veterans, while also addressing a shortage of professionally trained drivers with commercial licenses (CDL).
The Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMVOST) grant will enable the Adult & Continuing Education Center to offer free commercial truck driver training for approximately 36 Veterans through 2022-2023. This grant will cover full tuition for the training program. This is the fourth consecutive year the school has received this competitive grant, one of only three awards in Pennsylvania.
Classes for commercial truck driving training run throughout the year at the Yok County School of Technology campus in York. For additional information, call the Adult & Continuing Education Center at YCST at 717-747-2130.
