Welcome to our New Cosmetology Instructor!

The warmest of welcomes to our new Cosmetology Instructor, Amanda Caldwell. Amanda joined the Adult Education team in September after 20+ years in the industry. Amanda is a graduate of Solanco High School and Empire Education Group, where she also obtained her Cosmetology teacher license. Amanda has always had a love of educating and decided to become a teacher in 2008. Her teaching experience includes over six years at Empire Education Group. Amanda has also owned her own salon, Studio A, since 2023. Amanda sees great potential in the Adult Education Cosmetology program, both in the full cosmetology program as well as the nail technician program.

Amanda wants her students to understand that there is always more than one way to get to a destination; she allows them to make the mistakes and to have creative freedom. Her goal is to make the Cosmetology program fun, informative, and as stress-free as possible and to gift students with as much information as she possibly can within the short time she has them in class. She would like her students to know that she is always there with any questions or concerns they might have, and she believes in their individual skill sets. She makes them do the “hard” stuff because it makes the things they LOVE to do even better.

Looking back, if Amanda could give some advice to herself in her first year of teaching, she would tell herself to “try not to be so ‘perfect.’ We’re all humans and we need to give ourselves some grace.”

Fun facts about Amanda: She has four kids. She is an avid powerlifter and has been competing since 2021 as well as having a certified personal trainer certification. Amanda drove a school bus for 8 years, and is currently binge-watching “The Vampire Diaries” with her daughter. Check out the photos below to see Amanda‘s students in action!
